Find out more on our website [/stopprint]Environmental Lead
Each diocese has an individual appointed by the Bishop to assist him in delivering the Church’s message on environmental issues. The main role is to act as the link between the Church’s national environmental forum and disseminate information to the Bishop and the parishes of the diocese. There is scope to develop this role and shape our response in caring for our common home.
The time commitment to this role varies each month, but is estimated at about 5 hours per month.
This role would suite someone with a broad understanding and interest in environmental issues and be familiar with the encyclical Laudato si’.
Diocesan Archivist
As one of the newer diocese we have a relatively small archive of historical documents relevant to diocesan and parish life.
This role can be flexible in terms of time commitment with more effort needed initially to update and catalogue the archive. The volume of additions to the archive and requests for information from the archives, after the initial stage, would require minimal time commitment thereafter. There will be opportunities to engage with the national archive forum of the Bishops’ Conference if desired.
The archive is kept at the Hallam Pastoral Centre which is accessible during normal office hours Monday to Friday
No previous archive or library experience is necessary. The role would suit someone with an interest in the local history of the Church.
Diocesan Building Committee – 2 vacancies
The Building Committee is a sub-committee to the Diocesan board of Trustees. The role of the committee is to scrutinise parish building applications and authorise works within its terms of reference and make recommendations to the full board of Trustees for higher value proposals.
The committee meet eight times a year, subject to having proposals to consider, on a Tuesday during normal office hours at the Hallam Pastoral Centre. Typically the meetings and supporting documentation are not onerous, but occasions site visits may be necessary to assess a parish project.
The Committee are seeking application for two volunteer posts. The ideal persons will have either knowledge of the construction industry, a trade background or have a background in architecture or surveying.
To apply for any of the volunteer roles or seek further information please submit your CV to [email protected]. Closing date 4th October 2024.
