UNIFIL peacekeping mission to end southern Lebanon

Following the UN Security Council’s decision to end the peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon, the international community is wondering what action to take to maintain regional stability. Bishop César Essayan, Apostolic Vicar of Beirut, says: “The hope is that within a year the world will find ways to achieve peace both in Europe and here in the Middle East. But it must be a dignified peace, not based on the eradication of the other.”
