U.S. Bishops call expiration of New START Treaty ‘unacceptable’

Ahead of the imminent expiration of the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START), the President of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Archbishop Paul S. Coakley, is appealing to policymakers to ‘courageously pursue diplomatic negotiations to maintain New START’s limits’ stressing, ‘International policy disagreements, as serious as they are, cannot be used as excuses for diplomatic stalemates.’
