In the spirit of Laudato Si and the Season of Creation the St. Justin’s group in St. Vincent’s Parish in Sheffield organised a car boot sale. The St. Justin’s group raises awareness about justice and peace issues and raises funds to support a variety of projects usually, but not exclusively in African countries. St. Justin’s has direct links with various groups and gets regular updates on how the money has been used.
In the spirit of reducing one’s carbon footprint a car boot sale was held on 21st September. This was a great way to re-cycle things, particularly clothing. The United Nations states that the fashion industry is responsible for 8-10% of global emissions, more than aviation and shipping combined. Apparently, British shoppers buy more clothes than any others in Europe. So, it was a win- win event and with the opportunity to buy bacon butties and vegan alternatives many people went away happy and an amazing £746 was made.
