Couples from Doncaster, Rotherham, Sheffield and Worksop Deaneries came together with Bishop Ralph to give thanks in the Annual Thanksgiving Mass for the Sacrament of Marriage, which took place on 11 October at St Peter’s in Doncaster. The couples ranged from three couples who had just married this summer to four couples who were celebrating 60 years of Marriage together with others celebrating various anniversaries. In total the celebration gave thanks for over 500 years of married love. Following the Mass, the couples had the opportunity to socialise in the Parish hall and talk with Bishop Ralph. A number of them commented on the beauty of the celebration, which was enhanced with the support of Chris Edge who played the organ. Thanks are also due to Fr Darren Reid and the parish community of St Peter’s who made us welcome. It is hoped that as this celebration becomes part of the diocesan calendar, more couples will participate. We would like to hold it in different parts of the diocese so if any parish would like to offer to host next year’s celebration, please get in touch with the Formation & Mission Team.
