CAFOD Volunteer presented with Papal Blessing

CAFOD volunteer presented with Papal Blessing

CAFOD’s local representative Angela Powell joined St Joseph’s Wath for Mass and was given the opportunity to affirm the dedicated service of a long-standing parish volunteer Maura Booth.  Angela & Maura thanked everyone in the community for their prayer, solidarity, and alms sharing which is at the heart of the mission entrusted to CAFOD.  Maura was awarded a Papal Blessing to commemorate the anniversary of her volunteering role, in which she has encouraged support of CAFOD’s work throughout the years.

Can you volunteer for CAFOD?

In the 62 years since the Bishop’s conference of England and Wales registered CAFOD as an official charity, we have been supporting hundreds of thousands of people in 35 countries to tackle poverty. Hunger is on the rise again, our international food system is making many hungry and the way it works is destroying the environment.

We need volunteers to act with us now. Please join our volunteer team in the diocese of Hallam.  To find out more speak to Angela Powell or Peter Lazaro. Telephone 0303 303 3030 or email [email protected]  Or visit CAFODs volunteering website.

Pope Francis says solidarity involves creating a mindset that thinks “in terms of community and the priority of life of all over the appropriation of goods by a few”  please join us to transform our world for the benefit of all.

Lord Jesus, You come to us as bread and wind. Fill us with your compassion. Nourish us as we advocate for change, and seek to make your kingdom a reality in our World.
