Christmastide 2024 with St Beuno’s Outreach

Praying Christmastide with St Ignatius: The Holy Trinity looks upon the world

For your Christmas reflections this year, St Beuno’s Outreach offers you the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of St Ignatius. In his Spiritual Exercises, Ignatius invites us to meditate on the mystery of the Incarnation made possible by Mary’s fiat: ‘Let it be done unto me’.

St Ignatius suggests that in the company of the Trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – we might imagine ourselves looking upon this earth.

Then we ponder how Jesus – the Word made human for us in a stable in Bethlehem – entered our world. Jesus brings hope to all, this Christmas and for all time, as the Incarnation still goes on: Christ the Word made flesh, living in the hearts, hands and minds of all people of good will.

Spend whatever time you can with the texts and photographs in this booklet, and pray for the people and situations that come to mind. On some days there may only be time to ponder a single phrase, expression or image; on others, you may be able to reflect at greater length on the joy and hope brought about by the birth of Jesus.

There are two versions of the booklet – one to read online, and one with the pages in the right order to print out as a leaflet. Please note that our next regular Prego leaflet (for the Baptism of the Lord) will be posted on Friday 3 January.
