Care for Creation update- May

This year Laudato Si Week takes place between Pentecost Sunday, 19 May, until Sunday 26 May.

In 2015 Pope Francis addressed his letter Laudato Si  to every person on the planet, asking us to work together to create a better world for future generations and imploring us to make the necessary changes in our lives in order to care for, respect and value our ‘common home’.
He discusses the damage being inflicted on the earth by humans, and calls on ‘every person living on this planet’ to make urgent changes to our lifestyles and how we consume energy in order to protect the planet.

Integrating the wisdom of the Church and scientific endeavour, Laudato Si deals with many environmental issues including:
climate change
loss of biodiversity
decline in the quality of human life.

Laudato Si is an easier read than that sounds, and inspires hope and guidance that the world sorely needs.

The eight-day guide seeks to motivate all people of good will to protect our Common Home through concrete actions and simple changes in the way we live.
It contains a daily activity with an explanation of why this is important and the impact your actions will have. There are also links to additional prayers and a daily reflection.

It aims to foster a deeper respect for creation, promote sustainable habits and deepen our commitment to a lifestyle that respects the Creator’s handiwork.

This Pentecost, can we look again at the ideas suggested for the Cafod Live Simply Award and pray for the inspiration and courage to live our lives according to God’s will?

Finally, congratulations to the parishioners of St. Vincent’s Crookes, who have achieved the Live SImply Award. The recognition is a real encouragement to keep going.
