Welcome to our latest newsletter

June 2023

Here you will find information and opportunities for Formation and Mission in the
Diocese and further afield.

If you would like to hear more about any of the items mentioned here or in any of our newsletters, please feel free to contact us.

Welcome to the latest edition of the Formation and Mission Newsletter. We had positive feedback about the style and content of the first newsletter and so we are continuing with it in our latest issue. One slight change is that all of the articles in the newsletter are available on the diocesan website, so if you follow the links in the newsletter you will be taken to fuller versions on the webisite. We had a couple of teething issues with the newsletter going into spam last time, so we have now changed provider and we hope that this addresses the issue. If you are new to the newsletter please subscribe to keep up to date with the work of Formation in the diocese.

As we go to press we are about to have a Fruits of the Synod Meeting in the Diocese which will be a review of how the work of becoming a synodal church is going here in Hallam. The meeting will coincide with the publication of the Instrumentum Laboris (working document) of the synod on 20 June. This document will guide the discussions which take place in Rome in October this year.

We recently held a successful training event for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion who were commissioned by Bishop Ralph to serve in their parishesfor the next four years. At the same Mass we also gave thanks for those who are involved in a range of pastoral ministries across the diocese, from readers, to musicians and those involved in marriage preparation. If you are involved in any ministry and would like some additional formation or opportunities for prayer and reflection please let us know.

As we approach the summer break Bishop Ralph has invited the latest group who have completed the Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies to come together to celebrate their hard work and receive their certificates. This also also means that we are starting to recruit for both the CCRS and the Loyola Certificate in Pastoral Ministry. If you are interested in participating in either programme see the articles below and get in touch.

A final piece of exciting news is that Catalina, our Administrator and Social Media Officer, has just gone off on maternity leave and her baby is due any time now. We wish Catalina well at this happy time.

Please feel free to share our newsletter and, if you haven't already, subscribe to receive it. As always your feedback on the newsletter will be gratefully received.
