National Day OF Prayer for Survivors Of Abuse 2022 and the Isaiah Project Resources

The Isaiah Journey, a focus group of the Bishop’s Conference of England and Wales, and of which I am a member, representing the Diocesan Safeguarding Coordinators at  National Level, has produced some Spiritual Resources that can be used, not only on the Day of Prayer for Survivors of Abuse which is to be held on Tuesday 17th May 2022, but at any time to use within Parishes, organisation settings, schools, committee’s, support groups.

The below link will take you to the resource pack which has been produced, listening to and respecting the Survivors Voices, throughout the preparation and compilation. There are many suggestions of how Parishes and Communities can support the day of Prayer and in turn support Survivors of Abuse.

The Diocese of Hallam is also holding a Service of reflection on the day of Prayer, at St Peter In Chains Church, Doncaster at 7.00pm. All are welcome and encouraged to attend this service.

Please do take a look at the resources.  It would be great to receive some feedback on what resources have been used and how this worked within your organisation/Parish/Group.  This will help to evaluate and develop future resources so that the Catholic Church can continue in its mission to keep everyone safe and to care for those harmed by abuse.

I would also be grateful if you would be so kind as to forward on to your contacts and publish in your newsletters and bulletins.

If anybody is affected by the contents of the resources, please get in touch with me at the safeguarding office where I will endeavor to support how I can.  This may include signposting for support and making referrals to statutory agencies as it is the Policy of the Catholic Church to report all disclosures of abuse.

I look forward to seeing as many of you at our Dicoesan wide Service and to hearing about the use of the resources below.
