Services for the Deaf

We are working towards providing pastoral care for Catholic Deaf people by providing signed Masses and other services when required, including help and support concerning matters of faith and spirituality for Deaf people and their families.

We are pleased to tell you that Hallam is to be part of a pilot project for the delivery of Deaf Awareness/signing sessions on Zoom. This will be delivered by a qualified and experienced BSL tutor who has successfully used Zoom with her students over the past year.

To encourage take up on the training, we will be asking Fr Paul Fletcher and Peter McDonagh to meet the priests and deacons of the Hallam Diocese to inform and inspire them to take part in the training themselves and/or  ‘tap parishioners on the shoulder’ and asked them to take part in  this venture. We will keep you updated when definite plans are in place.

Please pray that priests and people will hear the call to this ministry.

For more information about how you can be involved contact Bernie Ware; [email protected]  0114 2566408 / 07980 406198
