The hosts Bishop Ralph Heskett, Fr Martin Trask (Dean of Sheffield North), and the Hallam Catholic Safeguarding Commission invite you to the
Annual Safeguarding Event
“Safeguarding and the Call for Justice – Changing our World”
9.30 am – 2 pm, Saturday 26th September 2015
St Patrick’s Church, Barnsley Rd, Sheffield, S5 0QF
2015 marks the 10th anniversary of the first Diocesan Safeguarding Event and we are delighted, in this anniversary year to welcome speakers from Adult Safeguarding, members of the newly formed Interfaith Safeguarding Network, the Hallam Justice and Peace Commission, and Chris Pearson (Representative of the National Catholic Safeguarding Commission).
There will be an emphasis on responding appropriately to the needs of adults who may be vulnerable and at risk, and those who have been hurt. This is particularly important as we understand more about the long term effects of exploitation and abuse. The Interfaith Safeguarding Network has been trying to address these issues as part of the journey towards ensuring that our church and all faith communities are places of welcome and safety, committed for promoting wellbeing for all.
Consideration will also be given to the implications of the Mental Capacity and Care Act 2014 legislation.
There will be a mass before the event, lunch is provided and a detailed programme can be found here.
To register your interest, please contact Jo Pearson, Safeguarding Administrator, on 0114 256 6453 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
